Overview
ABS is a common thermoplastic which is popular due to it's low cost of production and ease of machining. ABS is made from a binding of polymerized styrene and acrylonitrile in the presence of polybutadiene. The mixture of these compounds provides ABS with superior hardness, gloss, toughness, and resistance properties. The thermoplastic qualities, flexibility, and durability of ABS make it the most common plastic used in 3D printing. Furthermore, ABS is used in other applications such as instrument panels, refrigerator liners, computer keyboard caps, and LEGOs.
